Our contributors have been made aware of the fight for parental rights at Murdock Elementary. So what is happening? Well, a lot actually. The parents have been activated like never before. They are organized and working together to find solutions. Many parents in the upper grades (specifically 5th grade) were upset by the lack of transparency when it came to the curriculum that was being taught and introduced the first week of school. The subject matter was an "about me" type assignment. However, the questions were seen as invasive especially after a teacher(s) decided to let the students know that they can change anything about themselves. Some of the topics that could change were: name and gender. The parents would want to be informed at the very least of this instruction. Parents have organized and have hosted successful zoom meetings, had a no show day at school, and plan to speak at their board meeting on Tuesday, September 12th.

These parents are smart, strong, and united.

CVUSD Board Meeting September 12th, 2023

The Cajon Valley School Board has a regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, September 12th at 5:30 pm. The board meeting will be held at the 750 East Main Street El Cajon at the District Office.

Here is the link to the agenda: SEPTEMBER 12th MEETING AGENDA Our contributors would like the public to notice some details about the agenda.

The Superintendent's Evaluation

  • There were several community members who charged the board with not complying with proper procedures in regard to the superintendent's Evaluation. It was agreed upon in open session that it was to be tabled and addressed at this meeting. Where are his goals? Why wasn't the public notified and allowed public comment? Who on the board will hold him accountable to the employees and students? This item was supposed to be on the agenda and is not being acknowledged.

  • If you wish to speak on this item it is not on the agenda and you would speak at public comment.

WOW Conference Repayment

  • This item is about the fiduciary responsibility of the board. Much like the superintendent's evaluation, this item is also missing from the agenda. It was agreed upon in open session that it was to be tabled and addressed at this meeting. It is now being swept under the rug. Will the money ever be repaid? Will the district disclose a detailed budget to actuals on the World of Work Foundation? How about the budget to actuals on World of Work LLC with Beable, or any funds used towards WOW?

  • If you wish to speak on this item it is not on the agenda and you would speak at public comment.

Ed Hidalgo and the Consult Agreement Curse

  • This is the second consult agreement to come before the board for Mr. Hidalgo. Consult agreements have been a financial curse in the district. He will get paid to travel and promote the World of Work to potential clients. His pay is ridiculously expensive. Why are the unions allowing this? How does this consult agreement enhance the education of our students? World of Work is not bringing in the profit to justify this expense. Why isn't Beable paying for Hidalgo to peddle their product since they get the largest cut of the deal?

  • This is an item on the agenda under 9(c) if you wish to speak on it.

  • Here is a snippet of Hidalgo's contract:

Professional Expert - Classified Consultant 1. Ed Hidalgo, Service Performed: Developing and presenting Cajon Valley Union School District - World of Work, 9/13/2023 - 6/30/2024 Compensation: $207/hour, not to exceed 512 hours Program Budget: World of Work - Beable revenue.

The board is lacking transparency when it comes to any facet of World of Work and the Superintendent. It is time to share with the public these systematic violations of board policies, so the public can act accordingly. Please share this with friends in the community and consider showing up for the kids and speaking on any item of interest or questions you may have.
